Be My Guest
Thursday 18 August I 7.30pm
Pay What You Want
The Chelsea Theatre, London, SW10 0DR
Part of the 18 Shows Programme Presented by The Chelsea Theatre.
Be My Guest is both a comedy and a ceremony that examines the doubts and the struggles of the artistic process of making a show and the artistic choices based on how the artist identifies themselves and their background.
Monia Baldini gives voice to all of her Guests, who appear in six different roles or masks - each with their own physicality, voice, gestures and motivations (the Hostess, the Tragic Actress, the Artist, the Venus, the She-Lion, and Me).
This tourbillon of characters and archetypes gives the audience access to the inner-workings of the Author’s absurd and metatheatrical scenario where the fourth wall is broken and rebuilt. The Author tells the story, building up tension before a well-deserved catharsis by utilising the characters' weaknesses, and vulnerabilities.
Suitability: No trigger warnings, suitable for an audience aged 10+
Doors Open: 7.00pm
Show start: 7.30pm
This is a main Festival event run in collaboration with The Chelsea Theatre. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Want for each of the 18 shows hosted by The Chelsea Theatre for Kensington and Chelsea Festival.
