Light Messages for Your Soul
Duke of York Sq, King’s Rd, Sloane St and Pavilion Rd
Lauren Baker is an experimental artist whose practice expands across disciplines and mediums to address the vastness of the universe. Conceptually grounded yet aesthetically striking, her work involves making the unseen seen.
Baker’s visual style is often built around emitting or reflecting light. For the KCAW21 Public Art Trail, Baker presents a series of her signatures neon installations. Displayed in Duke of York Sq, King’s Rd, Sloane St and Pavilion Rd, the works are inspired by their location and resonate with the artist’s favourite local icons including The Beatles and Oscar Wilde.
Through positive mantras and affirmations, these works encourage us to reimagine the situation we are living in now, to reimagine our thoughts, to look inwards, to transmute darkness and to evolve our consciousness.
The installations are presented as part of the KCAW21 Public Art Trail – a series of temporary installations placed in locations across Kensington and Chelsea to interact with the public in unique and unusual ways for Summer 2021
