The Chelsea Theatre, London, SW10 0DR

Part of the 18 Shows Programme Presented by The Chelsea Theatre.

MACONDO is an Autoteatro show inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude‘, that combines instruction based theatre, binaural sound and poetic writing to create a unique theatre experience.

Choosing between Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced and Hero the participants follow different audio tracks that steer their path through the show.

MACONDO appears for fifty minutes only in an empty theatre and takes the shape of the people that inhabit it, wrapped up in a predetermined fate.

Macondo is a New Theatre Royal Portsmouth co-commission supported by Barbican Open Lab and funded by the Arts Council of England.

Suitability: Headphones will be worn throughout the performance, some flashing lights. Suitable for an audience aged 15+

Length: 55 mins

Doors Open: 7.00pm. It is particularly important that the audience arrives at least 20 mins before the show starts. Show start: 7.30pm

This is a main Festival event run in collaboration with The Chelsea Theatre. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Want for each of the 18 shows hosted by The Chelsea Theatre for Kensington and Chelsea Festival.
