Mrs Shaw Herself

Pay What You Want

The Chelsea Theatre, London, SW10 0DR

Part of the 18 Shows Programme Presented by The Chelsea Theatre.

Mrs Shaw Herself brings the life, thoughts and own words of Charlotte Payne-Townshend, aka Mrs George Bernard Shaw, to the stage.

Married to one of the most famous men in the world in what was commonly assumed to be sexless union, Charlotte Payne-Townshend had so much more to her story. An Irish heiress, suffragette, LSE benefactor and champion of women’s rights, her legacy has sadly been largely neglected - until now.

This hour-long show brings Charlotte Payne-Townshend to life, propelling her achievements into the spotlight while also exploring a very unconventional Irish love-story with live accompaniment on Celtic harp.

Suitability: 10+
Length: 60min

Doors Open: 7.00pm
Show start: 7.30pm

This is a main Festival event run in collaboration with The Chelsea Theatre. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Want for each of the 18 shows hosted by The Chelsea Theatre for Kensington and Chelsea Festival.
