Yard Tales - A new devised theatre piece created by young people from Harrow’s Grange Farm Estate in partnership with The Playground Theatre’s outreach team, featuring stories and music.

The show was inspired by the My Yard project which started with a photographer giving cameras to young people on the Harrow's Grange Farm Estate. They documented their lives and it's a story about community and estate regeneration. A book was then made as a result of their work. Many of the people in the book have now been moved out by developers, with the remaining residents set to be moved out this year.

Over a series of workshops with Playground team member Phil Correia, the young people have created a semi-interactive play, centred around a core group of young people reminiscing about their time on the Estate.

Alongside the performance there is a free photographic exhibition of the pictures that inspired the project. This exhibition, called MY YARD, has been curated by Jarelle Francis and is presented by charity My Yard in collaboration with The Playground Theatre.

Grange Farm Estate in South Harrow was on the brink of being demolished when the estate’s young inhabitants got together to celebrate and immortalise their community. With he support of the charity My Yard and the help of industry creatives, a group of 10-16-year-olds documented life on their estate using disposable, medium-format cameras, creating Grange Farm Book – an anthology of photographs commemorating their soon-to-be-vanished home. Curator Jarelle Francis has taken a selection of photos from the book to exhibit in The Playground Theatre for the first photo exhibition of the Grange Farm inhabitants. Free Admission to the Exhibition.

This is a Festival partner event. Tickets for the show are Pay What You Want and can be booked using the link below.
